2013 Armstrong-Umbel Endurance Classic for Grouse Dogs
Once again, Strideaway will be supporting the Armstrong-Umbel Endurance Classic for Grouse Dogs — the only extended period stake on the grouse and woodcock trial circuit.
In an attempt to encourage more participation as well as keep down the cost of running the trial, the Black Ash Grouse Trial Club has changed the format of the Armstrong-Umbel to one-hour qualifying heats followed by one-hour and thirty minute finals. The judges will determine how many dogs will be called back to compete in the finals. Dogs will be called back in the same order as the initial drawing allowing for each dog to have the maximum time to rest between heats.
The stake will be run one week earlier this spring to better coincide with the spring woodcock flights allowing more opportunities for dogs to handle and point wild birds.
Please join us in your support of the 2013 Armstrong-Umbel Endurance Classic by purchasing a cap. They are available in the Strideaway Store but only for a limited time (through February 24) as they need to be ordered in time for the event.
Thanks to all the companies and individuals who have supported the Armstrong-Umbel Endurance Classic for the past five years through their financial support and participation!
