2017 Southeastern Open Quail Championship
Photographs of the 2017 Southeastern Open Quail Championship were taken during the several days of running (March 1 – 7) that I was able to attend. Many other dogs — their handlers, and owners competed in the 41-brace stake that are not depicted.
The inaugural running of the championship was in 1990, hosted by the Southeastern Field Trial Club and headquartered on Dr. Ron Deal’s Chickasaw Plantation. Courses run on Chickasaw and bordering Abigail (formerly Tallassee Plantation). For some years, the Southeastern Open Shooting Dog Championship, now run on Senah Plantation, was also headquartered and hosted by Chickasaw Plantation and was run back to back with the all-age championship.
The Southeastern Field Trial community is grateful to Dr. Deal and his family for their hard work and generosity hosting one of the preeminent Open All-Age Championships on Bobwhite quail in the country.
