Omen Wins Both Derby and All-Age
A NEW star has emblazoned the field trial firmament and an old star has rekindled a bright light pointing to a great future. The new star is Omen, T. Jack Robinson’s sterling Derby which W.F. (Bill) Rayl piloted to a sensational win in the $1000 Derby, then to a smashing victory in the $2500 All-Age of the refurbished Suwannee River Field Trial Club.
….The source of the well-spring of strength for the new Club is E.L. “Ted” Baker, young successful businessman of Jacksonville. He envisioned a top-drawer bird dog event in the natural quail country of north Florida and set about to gather about him an organization that would promote an indisputably superior annual contest for awards that would attract the greatest dogs and handlers in the land.
